The High Tatras are the highest and most rocky part of the entire Tatra mountain range, primarily composed of hard granite. Within their area lies Poland’s highest peak – Rysy, reaching an altitude of 2,499 meters above sea level. A characteristic feature of this range is its typically alpine landscape, with deep glacial valleys and numerous, crystal-clear lakes.
The Kingdom of Caves
This is where the largest cluster of caves in Poland is located, including the deepest and longest one – the Wielka Śnieżna Cave.
Red Peaks
The popular Red Peaks massif owes its name to a plant called Eriophorum vaginatum, which turns a rusty color in the autumn, giving the slopes a unique hue.

Limestone formation
Unlike the High Tatras, which are primarily composed of granite, a large part of the Western Tatras is made up of limestone and dolomite, which promotes the abundant growth of plants that thrive in calcareous environments, such as alpine columbine.
The largest meadow
This range is home to Chochołowska Meadow, which is the largest meadow in the Polish Tatra Mountains and attracts thousands of tourists every spring with its famous blooming crocuses.
