Explore Place

Located in the High Tatras region, Gerlach is the highest peak in the entire Carpathian mountain range. For years, it has attracted mountaineers with its majestic silhouette and rich history, as its name commemorates former rulers and statesmen. The first documented ascent of the peak by Johann Still in the first half of the 19th century marked the beginning of the development of professional high-mountain guiding in this region. The greatest attraction for experienced hikers are the challenging climbing routes that lead through famous rock formations, such as Próba Wielicka and Próba Batyżowiecka. This place is characterized by its rugged landscape and the absence of marked hiking trails, which means that a safe ascent to the summit is only possible under the guidance of a licensed Tatra mountain guide.
