The Lodowa Przełęcz (Ice Pass) in the High Tatras is the highest point accessible to hikers on the Slovakian side, connecting the picturesque Dolina Jaworowa (Maple Valley) with the Dolina Pięciu Stawów Spiskich (Valley of the Five Spiš Lakes). Historically, this trail was used by hunters and shepherds from the village of Jurgów, and the first recorded tourist ascent dates back to the second half of the 19th century. Today, crossing this rocky saddle offers a unique panorama of the imposing Lodowy Szczyt (Ice Peak) massif and the crystal-clear surfaces of the mountain lakes, including the Lodowy Staw (Ice Lake). This place is characterized by its rugged, alpine nature and steep ascent, making it one of the most challenging and spectacular points on the map of the Tatra trails.
