Liptowskie Mury form a section of the main ridge of the High Tatras, marking the natural border between Poland and Slovakia. Historically, the name refers to the Liptó region, and the ridge once separated Galicia from the Kingdom of Hungary, serving as an area for early pastoral exploration. This location is renowned for its wide-ranging views of the Dolina Pięciu Stawów Polskich (Valley of the Five Polish Lakes) and the Slovakian Dolina Ciemnosmreczynska (Ciemnosmreczynska Valley), encompassing distinctive peaks such as Wyżni and Niżni Kostur.
