Zielony Staw Gąsienicowy is the largest lake in the Zielona Gąsienicowa Valley, located at an altitude of 1674 meters above sea level, at the foot of Skrajna and Pośrednia Turnia. The lake is characterized by its distinctive, bright turquoise water and the presence of brook trout, and its natural beauty was already described by 19th-century researchers, such as Stanisław Staszic. Today, it is an extremely popular tourist attraction, located directly on the blue trail leading towards the Karb pass and the summit of Kościelec.
