Zawrat Pass is one of the most recognizable passes in the High Tatras, historically serving as a strategic route for shepherds, poachers, and the first mountain researchers. Today, it is a key junction for hiking trails, serving as the western starting point for the famous Orla Perć trail and connecting the Valley of the Five Polish Lakes with the Gąsienicowa Meadow. A distinctive feature of the location is the statue of the Virgin Mary, placed in a rocky niche, which was installed in 1904 by Father Walenty Gadowski, the creator of the local trails. Thanks to its accessibility via the steep Zawratowy Żleb, this point remains an important destination for high-mountain expeditions even during the winter season.
