  • Gothic

Explore Place

Built in the second half of the 15th century, the church in Dębno is one of several temples in southern Lesser Poland that have been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. It is a Jewel of World Culture and is open for daily visits. The church is one of the best-preserved Gothic wooden churches and also one of the most famous Polish monuments, both within the country and abroad (it was the only wooden church to be nominated in the competition for the Seven Wonders of Poland). It stands out due to its silhouette, which blends harmoniously with the landscape (virtually unchanged since its construction), and its exceptionally valuable movable furnishings.

  • Famous from… the movie!

In the church in Dębno, in the series “Janosik,” the main character got married to Maryna.

  • Historic bells

One of the highlights of this remarkable church is the collection of bells, which are usually located in the presbytery. They are very old – some may even date back to the 15th century.

  • Guided tours are available

The church can be visited throughout the year; it is recommended to arrange a guided tour by calling in advance.
