The first temple in Łapsze Niżne, and this is probably the part of the building that still exists today, dates from 1340 (the parish was erected in that year). And according to an unpreserved visitation from 1700, from around 1300. From 1313 to 1786, the church was owned and then administered by the Miechowites from Lendak in the Spiš region. Today, the parish is run by the Piarist Fathers.

Hungarian origin
Once upon a time, the whole Spiš region together with Łapsze and the church belonged to Hungary (the border ran near Niedzica Castle).

Piarists
Since 1957, the church and the parish have been administered by the Piarist Fathers. They established an Educational and Recreational Centre at the monastic house adjacent to the church.
