Its appeal lies not only in the stunning appearance of the building itself but also in the picturesque surroundings provided by the Upper Park. However, it is important to remember that this is primarily a sanatorium offering a wide range of therapeutic treatments, specialist consultations, and accommodation, making it an ideal stop before returning to the trail or a place to rest and improve one’s health.

Building design
The design for the inhalation therapy facility was created by Stanisław Dziewolski, who was also the owner of the nearby Krościenko resort.

During World War II, weapons and ammunition were hidden in the attic of the Inhalatorium. Due to the threat of the building being blown up by the Germans/the Third Reich, most of the equipment was moved to another location.

The “Inhalatorium” sanatorium, which comprises the Natural Medicine Facility and the Health Resort Clinic, offers patients a wide range of treatments and specialist consultations. When starting outpatient treatment, it is essential to consult a doctor, as they will select the appropriate treatments based on the patient’s health condition. Afterwards, all that remains is to undergo treatment and relax. It is important to remember that treatment in Szczawnica is focused on curing diseases of the respiratory and musculoskeletal systems.
Something for everyone
The full list of treatments is available on the Szczawnica Health Resort website, so here we will focus only on some of the most noteworthy ones. The first treatment worth mentioning is a mineral bath, in which a 2-3% saline solution is used. It is recommended for people with respiratory diseases, joint problems, or certain dermatological conditions. Another treatment that stands out, even just by its name, is the pearl-ozone bath. It has a relaxing effect on muscles, stimulates circulation, and oxygenates the skin. It is also worth mentioning treatments based on interference or pulsed currents, which focus on reducing muscle tension. The concert shell was built in 1950 so that visitors could enjoy their time by listening to the musicians performing there. Since then, whenever possible, a band or orchestra was hired each season to give a concert every evening. Sometimes, there were breaks of several years, as in recent years due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Currently, there is no information about the resumption of regular performances, but concerts are still held as part of various festivals organized by the city.
Appearance matters too
The building itself was constructed from wood on stone foundations. The white interior of this structure allows for longer use of sunlight. It was also topped with simple wooden finishes in a folk style, which gives it a unique atmosphere and makes it blend in with the surroundings.
