The Wysokie Skałki Nature Reserve is a landscape reserve located on the highest peak of the Pieniny Mountains – Wysoka (1050 meters above sea level). It was established in 1961, among other reasons, to protect the only remaining upper montane natural spruce forest in the Pieniny Mountains.
Views
From the top of Wysoka, you can enjoy impressive views of the Radziejowa range, Babia Góra, the Tatra Mountains, and the Pieniny Mountains.
The Lemkos
Between 1947 and 1957, the Lemkos significantly reduced the forest cover in this area for economic purposes. Fortunately, the forest regenerated after several decades.
Unique plants
The reserve is home to rare plant species, such as the golden-headed lily and the alpine clematis.
