People who have visited the Pieniny Mountains may remember Nowa Góra from one of their hikes, even if they don’t know its name. As the second-highest peak in the Pieniny Range, it is visible from peaks such as Trzy Korony or Czoło. Additionally, it can be seen while hiking along the blue trail between Przełęcz Trzy Kopce and Przełęcz Szopka. We can also see it from some sections of the Szopczański Gorge. Unfortunately, Nowa Góra itself is not accessible to tourists, so we can only admire it from a distance.

Nowa Góra is the second highest peak in the Pieniny Mountains and the highest peak in the Czorsztyn Pieniny range.
Name
Before 1822, the peak was known as “Czarna Góra” (Black Mountain), but it was later renamed “Nowa Góra”.
Zakoczył clearing
The blue hiking trail from Czoło to Szopka pass (the same one mentioned above) runs along the edge of the Zakoczył clearing. This clearing is sometimes called “Czerniawa.”
Appearance
Nowa Góra has the shape of a sharp cone with a ridge that curves southward. Most of its surface is covered by forest.
