Pieniny Środkowe, as Pieniny Właściwe are also often called, is one of the Pieniny mountain ranges. They stretch from Niedzica and Czorsztyn to Krościenko and Leśnica. Their highest and one of the most popular peaks is Trzy Korony (Three Crowns), but the land is also famous for the much-visited, already almost iconic pine tree growing on Sokolica. The area of Pieniny Właściwe is certainly the most frequently visited part of the whole Pieniny mountain range, as they can see the ruins of castles in Czorsztyn and Pieniny, Lake Czorsztyńskie itself and numerous peaks from which there is a majestic view, for example the Dunajec Gorge.

Brother Cyprian ...
There is a legend in the mountains, and it is still circulating, about Brother Cyprian, who came from the Red Monastery in the 18th century. According to this legend, he probably took off from the Three Crowns on a flying machine and reached as far as the Tatra Mountains.

Three Crowns?
The name Three Crowns was called Korona in all the documents found. The origin of the current name is not known, as it has no reasonable justification either in tradition or in the shape of the five peaks.
