Gorce is a mountain range belonging to the Western Beskids, located between Beskid Sądecki and Beskid Żywiecki, directly north of the Tatra Mountains (thanks to that, Gorce is famous for its beautiful views of snowy peaks). The area is surrounded by well-known tourist destinations such as Nowy Targ, Mszana Dolna, Rabka Zdrój and Krościenko nad Dunajcem. Before heading to Gorce, it is worth considering not only visiting the more popular peaks such as Turbacz, but also the lesser-known peaks - not some of which, such as Magurki, are equipped with interesting attractions such as viewing towers.

  • Origin of the name

    The origin of the name Pienin probably comes from the word gorzeć, meaning to burn, and originates from the method of obtaining clearings by burning wooded areas

  • Crocuses

    In spring, the Gorce glades fill up with crocuses, making it an extremely attractive place to visit during April weekends.

  • Friendly routes

    The trails here are well-described and frequented, and even novice hikers will have no trouble climbing the next peak.

Gorce = to burn

According to Wikipedia, the name of the range probably comes from the word gorzeć, meaning to burn, and originates from the method of obtaining clearings by burning forested areas.

View Towers

There are 4 view towers located in the Ochotnica commune (Magurki, Lubań, Gorc, Koziarz), 3 of which are in the Gorce (the fourth is in the Beskid Sądecki on Koziarz). Although they are relatively close to each other, the view from each of them is completely different, it is worth conquering them all one by one. This is very easy to achieve if you rent accommodation in the area of Ochotnica Górna, Dolna or Tylmanowa, in which case a trip to any of the towers will take no longer than 4 hours.

Gorczanski National Park

Gorczanski National Park covers the central range of the Gorce Mountains, including the Turbacz and Gorce massifs. It is a sanctuary for more than 1,500 species of plants, and more than 150 species of vertebrates. The national park is famous for its vast forests, Gorce glades and beautiful views of the Tatra Mountains, Lake Czorsztyńskie and the Pieniny Mountains. Interesting fact: the peak of Turbacz itself does not belong to the area of the park, but other well-known peaks in the area do !
